Shield:
Per
bend embattled argent and gules, in chief a fir
tree eradicated proper and in base a bend wavy
azure fimbriated of the first.
Crest: On a wreath of the colors argent and
gules a dexter arm embowed, armored or, fist
proper, clutching a lightning flash fesswise of
the second.
Motto: Arte et Animo (By Stratagem and
Courage).
Symbolism: The colors red and white represent
the Corps of Engineers. The embattled partition
line represents the Combat Engineers, as well as
the "Dragon’s Teeth" fortifications
of the German Siegfried Line. The fir tree on
white background represents the forests and snow
of the Ardennes campaign. The blue wavy bend
encompassed by dual white wavy bends represents
the rivers Rhine and Danube, symbolic of both the
Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. |
